Viewing Question: I have a collection of comic books. Does it make sense for me to insure them?

  1. Well that really depends on a lot of things. First of all, check your homeowners. They may be covered under that, but they very well may not be. If they are covered, make sure you understand how they’re covered. For example: they will be covered if your house burns down, but probably not if you spill water on them. You also need to make sure you have a saved and secured itemized list of your comic books, receipts and values. If something happens to your house, you may need to prove you actually owned them!

If your collection is very valuable (probably over $5-10,000), or if you have a certain item that is extremely valuable, you may want to insure. Be aware that if you want to insure something valuable, you may be required to have it appraised!
